B. Surgery Day<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

  • Shower at home using regular soap and remove any nail polish.<\/li>
  • Any artificial nails must be removed from all fingers due to the risk of bacterial growth.<\/li>
  • Do not wear any jewelry on your hand that will be operated on.<\/li>
  • Wear clothing with loose or short sleeves, as we need access to your upper arm to apply a cuff.<\/li>
  • You do not need to fast, as the procedure is performed under local anesthesia. Eat as usual.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    • You should not drive immediately after the procedure, so try to arrange transportation home. This surgery does not qualify for medical transport.<\/li>
    • Keep your hand elevated (above heart level) as much as possible for the first three days to reduce swelling and bleeding. At night, you can place your hand on your chest with a pillow under your elbow.<\/li>
    • It is important to move your fingers and hand to prevent swelling. Starting on the day of surgery, you can lift your hand above your head and regularly make a fist, extend, and spread your fingers - ideally several times per hour.<\/li>
    • After the third day, you may resume daily activities but avoid lifting or carrying heavy objects as long as the stitches remain.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

      Dressing<\/span><\/p>

      Leave the dressing untouched until your follow-up appointment. If it gets wet or comes loose, contact us for a replacement dressing.<\/p>

      Pain Relief<\/span><\/p>

      We recommend Alvedon for pain relief. If anything deviates from the expected recovery, such as severe pain, bleeding, or fever, contact the clinic during the day via the link on our website, abcortopedi.se, or call the emergency number provided on the day of surgery. For evenings, weekends, and public holidays, contact 1177 or visit the nearest urgent care center.<\/p>

      Sick Leave<\/span><\/p>

      If your job does not put strain on your hand, you may be able to return to work within a few days after surgery. However, most patients are on sick leave for 2\u20134 weeks. If you have a physically demanding job, longer sick leave may be necessary. The sick note will be issued on the day of surgery.<\/p>

      Suture Removal<\/span><\/p>

      Stitches are removed approximately 10 days after surgery at ABC Orthopedic, Mariebergsgatan 22, Stockholms Sjukhem, Kungsholmen.
